Welcome to our equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) questionnaire.

We are undertaking a thematic review of the career progression of BAME and female solicitors. Our aim is to understand what is being done, and what more could be done, to improve the representation of BAME and female solicitors in senior roles in law firms. This is important to us as a diverse and inclusive profession benefits both the providers and consumers of legal services. Our website has more information on our approach to equality and diversity if you would like to learn more.

What do we want to know?

We want to gather information about the motivations and experiences that have helped shape your career. We will also be talking to firms and would like to hear your examples of firms that have developed a positive approach to career progression for both female and BAME solicitors. We will use these examples in our work encouraging firms to develop a more diverse and inclusive workforce.

This questionnaire will ask you questions about:

a) the motivations behind your career choices
b) work that firms have done to encourage the development and career progression of female and BAME solicitors
c) recommendations you might have about what could be done to improve career development.

Filling in the survey: keeping your identity confidential

This survey is anonymous and should take no more than 20 minutes to complete.
You may withdraw from the survey at any point prior to pressing the “submit” button at the end. Pressing the submit button will be taken as your consent to providing your information to the SRA. The information you provide will be analysed and used in the creation of a report. The report may include anonymised quotations from the survey. It will not be possible to identify you in the report.

The results of the survey and any contact details you provide will be kept securely and confidentially by the SRA.
